Scars That Can't Be Seen

The Scars That Can’t Be Seen

Scars all over my legs and covering my knees,

Scars on my back,

A few falls from trees,

Scars on my fingers and all over my hand,

Scars on my heart

All made by man,

So many scars you can’t even see,

Who’s to know, where they all be,

No one notices,

Or slows to a pause

To ask what was the cause

The worst scars can’t be seen

And won’t ever be forgotten,

They’re ugly and make you feel rotten,

They won’t ever heal,

‘cos the worst scars only you can feel

People can see an accident burn,

Or a sidewalk scraped knee,

But the real begging plea,

Are the ones that you can’t see

Every time love fades to like,

Or someone tells you to take a hike

Scrapes you a little bit more

When moving on is a must,

Because it was destined for a bust

Hardens you a bit more

When you’re stoned and solid,

You never get sore,

With a hallowed core

You can deal with a bit more

One giant walking scar,

Healed up so tight,

Not solved at all

A puzzle done all wrong

Not a piece belongs,

But as long as you’re all sewn up

The scars that can’t be seen,

The ones deep inside

Fuel and toughen up your pride,

The scars that can’ t be seen

Aren’t so lame or obscene

‘cos they hurt the worst,

and need to be dealt with first,

they are invisible,

to make you feel the same

the scars that can’t be seen

make you go insane,

They’re invisible to the world

And you,

too, feel

transparent and clear

With nothing to fear

Except everything near

Because the scars that can’t be seen

Are kept fresh

With every new sting.
